Generation Brussels
2018- 2023
In the last six years, Brussels Gallery Weekend organized every year in September Generation Brussels. This exhibition, dedicated to young artists, established itself as a veritable platform of discovery for those fresh out of art school or already making their way in the contemporary art world.
For 4 days, Generation Brussels embodied the bold, innovative spirit of the Belgian capital as a cultural and artistic hotspot in perpetual evolution. Each year, the exhibition introduced the public to a diverse range of emerging talent not represented by galleries, acting as a catalyst by exposing them to a discerning public and providing a showcase for their work.
The artists presented were carefully selected by a curator, guaranteeing the quality and relevance of the works exhibited. Some of these artists were fresh out of art school, imbued with a creative freshness, while others had already begun to make a name for themselves in the contemporary art world. This diversity brought an invaluable richness, allowing the public to discover a variety of styles and mediums.
What set Generation Brussels apart is its commitment to actively supporting artists in the early stages of their careers. The exhibition offered much more than just an opportunity to exhibit: it created a network, fostered collaborations and encouraged artistic dialogue. Participating artists benefited from increased visibility during the 4-day event and the chance to meet collectors, gallerists and art critics, which can be a vital springboard for careers.
The exhibition was also an opportunity for visitors to delve into the world of contemporary art, observing changing trends and discovering promising new talents. Each issue carefully created as an invitation to reflect, discuss and explore creativity in all its aspects.
In short, Generation Brussels was much more than exhibitions. It was a celebration of emerging art, a platform of opportunity for young artists, and an annual rendez-vous that injected a dose of vitality and innovation into Brussels' artistic fabric. A testament to the city's ongoing commitment to promoting creativity and culture, while offering young artists a valuable chance to shine and flourish on the contemporary art scene.
